Responding to a much-publicised hack which allows users to obtain iOS in-app purchases for free, Apple has created a new support document outlining how developers can protect their apps from the exploit. The document also reveals that iOS 6 will address the vulnerability.

The ability to re-download previously purchased movies via iTunes in the Cloud is no longer exclusive to users in the United States. Apple has today rolled out the feature for a number of other countries, including here in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Following last week’s UK court ruling that Samsung’s Galaxy Tabs aren’t cool enough to be confused with the iPad, Bloomberg reports that Judge Colin Birss has ordered Apple to publicly acknowledge that the South Korean company didn’t copy the iPad by posting notices on its UK website and in several British newspapers & magazines.

According to a report published earlier today by the Wall Street Journal, Apple’s next-generation iPhone will feature “in-cell” technology, which will allow the screen of the device to be thinner than those used in its current models.

Apple are investigating an iOS exploit that allows in-app purchases to be obtained for free. The hack, which doesn’t require jailbreaking, involves installing fake certificates on an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and altering the device’s DNS settings. It works by tricking apps into communicating with a third-party server pretending to be Apple’s App Store.
