Nuance Communications is famous for being the engine that drives Apple’s latest intelligent assistant, Siri, and a number of other text-to-speech technologies on iOS and various other platforms. Today it makes its debut in the Mac App Store with a terrific application called Dragon Express.

Back in April 2010 Steve Jobs famously wrote an open letter explaining why Apple doesn’t allow Flash on its iPhones, iPods & iPads – outlining issues with reliability, security, performance, and the lack of support for touch based devices. He concluded that Flash belonged to the era of PCs and mice, and that Adobe should focus more on HTML5 tools.

There are a number of third-party apps that allow you to take panoramic photos with your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad 2, and code strings found in developer previews of iOS 5 suggested Apple might add the feature to their own camera app. Now developer Conrad Kramer has discovered that there’s a panorama mode hidden in the current, public version of iOS 5 – the image above shows its interface.

Adobe have today released special ‘editor’ versions of its consumer-focused photo & video editing software – Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 on the Mac App Store. Costing £54.99 each, the titles are individually cheaper than those offered directly from Adobe, but lack some of the features from the standard editions.

We’ve all downloaded apps from the App Store that we might not want others to know about – the official X Factor application, for instance. Previously it wasn’t a problem, because once you’d deleted the app from your device you’d deleted any evidence of its installation. These days, however, anyone can look at the list of apps we’ve purchased from the App Store since its inception thanks to the new ‘Purchased’ section.

When Apple launched OS X Lion earlier this year, one of its most significant changes under-the-hood was a new sandboxing system that is intending to increase your system’s security. While the feature is mostly good news for users, it’s not so great for developers, who must ensure that their applications support sandboxing if they wish to sell them in the Mac App Store from March 2012.

While those in the United States have enjoyed a torrent of Steve Jobs documentaries and biographies since he passed away on October 5, the U.K. seems to have been a little short-changed. Tonight, however, Channel 4 is set to air a new documentary entitled ‘Steve Jobs: iChanged The World’.

Apple have today announced that their popular music creation app GarageBand, is now available for both the iPhone and iPod touch. Previously available for the iPad only, Apple have updated that version to 1.1 and made it universal – the same app now works on all iOS devices.
