According to AllthingsD, the iPhone event scheduled for the 4th of October (unconfirmed by Apple), will take place at the company’s campus in Cupertino, and not the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) – where previous iPhone events have been held.

While I rarely use OS X Lion’s iOS-inspired Launchpad – which gives you a full-screen view of all the apps on your Mac, I do like discovering hidden features. And it turns out that Launchpad has one that allows you to alter the appearance of the background picture.

According to a report published today by AllThingsD, Apple will unveil the next-generation iPhone at a media event scheduled for the 4th of October. With Steve Jobs stepping down last month, all eyes will be on new CEO Tim Cook, who seems likely to play a prominent role at the event.

Inspired by Masquerade – a book released in the UK in the early 80s containing clues revealing the location of a buried golden hare, app developers Candid Innovations claim to have buried £2000 of gold sovereign coins somewhere in the UK. The location of the coins will be revealed by solving a series of clues contained in an upcoming iPhone app.

Apple fans in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and the United Arab Emirates can now buy the latest Apple gadgets via their own official online stores. Launched yesterday, Apple are promoting the new stores with confetti strewn welcome messages on each countries homepage.

Just four days ago Apple opened its 32nd Retail Store in East London, and at 9.00am this morning the doors of store number 33 officially opened in the Braehead Shopping Centre Glasgow. The latest store is Apple’s second in Glasgow, and the third in Scotland – the other is in Aberdeen.
