Apple showcases iPhone 4S camera with sample photos

I’ll be honest, I haven’t had chance to watch the one hour 36 minute video of last night’s iPhone media event in full yet. By all accounts it took a while for Tim Cook and team to get to the juiciest announcements – the new iPhone 4S and its Siri assistant. Thankfully though, Apple have since posted three short videos featuring last night’s biggest news to their YouTube account.

One of the most impressive features of the new iPhone 4S is undoubtedly the built-in assistant, Siri. Sprung from a company that Apple acquired last year shortly after it debuted an app, also named Siri, on the app store. What that version of Siri did was a sort of embryo of what we now see built into the very core of iOS. You could give natural speech commands, but what you could do with them was much more limited than this upgraded Siri.

Apple announces iPhone 4S with A5 CPU, 8MP camera, Siri assistant

The wait is over, folks. Apple’s Phil Schiller finally announced the company’s fifth-generation iPhone and put months and months of rumors and speculation to rest. As expected, the new device is called the iPhone 4S, and while it’s identical to the iPhone 4 on the outside, on the inside “it’s all new.”

Apple unveils white iPod touch and reduces price of 8GB model

The nano wasn’t the only iPod to get an update today, Apple also announced that their most popular portable music device – the iPod touch, is now available in white. The price of the entry level 8GB iPod touch has also been reduced from £189 ($229) to £169 ($199).
