Apple announces new EarPods earphones

In addition to the new iPhone 5, iPod nano and iPod touch, which Apple unveiled at today’s press event in San Francisco, the company also announced a pair of redesigned earphones called EarPods.

The new earphones appear to be the exact same ones that appeared in a video posted by Vietnamese website Tinhte.vn earlier this month.

Product description:

Unlike traditional, circular earbuds, the design of the new Apple EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphone.

The speakers inside Apple EarPods have been engineered to minimise sound loss and maximise sound output. So you get high-quality audio that’s just as impressive as what you’d hear from more expensive headphones.

At the event, Apple’s Greg Joswiak revealed that the EarPods had been in development by the company for the last three years.

The new EarPods are available to order today for £25, and they will also be included with the new iPhone 5, iPod nano, and iPod touch.
