While it was always likely that iOS 6 was going to be one of the main announcements at WWDC 2012, this has now been officially confirmed with the installation of a huge banner (see above) at San Francisco’s Moscone Center – the venue for the four-day event.

CEO Tim Cook and other Apple employees are expected to demonstrate iOS 6 to developers and select members of the press during a keynote on the first day of the event – this Monday at 10:00am pacific time, which is 6:00pm here in the UK.

Some of the features rumoured for the latest iteration of the mobile OS include deep Facebook integration, a new in-house Maps application which will replace Google maps, and the introduction of Siri on the new iPad.

While Apple are unlikely to provide a live stream of the event, you will be able to read about all of the announcements on here.
