Paul McCartney performance live on iTunes & Apple TV

Apple have today announced that it will be live streaming an exclusive Paul McCartney performance from Capitol Studios in Los Angeles. The performance, which is being held to celebrate the release of McCartney’s latest album – Kisses on the Bottom, will be available to watch for free via iTunes (Mac or PC), and on the Apple TV.

Apple are currently promoting the event via a special page on the iTunes Store:

“To celebrate the release of Paul McCartney’s latest album, watch a free stream of his exclusive performance at Capitol Studios on 10 February at 3 a.m. (GMT) right here. Or stream it on your TV using your Apple TV – just choose iTunes Live from the internet menu.”

While Paul McCartney fans are no doubt excited about the news, the more interesting aspect of today’s announcement is the fact that Apple has, for the first time, chosen to stream such an event live to the Apple TV. Hopefully it’s the first of many live broadcasts to be made available on the Cupertino company’s set-top box.

If you want to watch the Paul McCartney performance, it starts at 7.00pm PST Thursday, which is 3.00am Friday here in the UK!
