After unveiling an all new iPad with a Retina display at today’s media event in San Francisco, Apple also announced the immediate availability of iPhoto for the iPad, and “major” updates to the company’s other iLife apps – iMovie and GarageBand.

iPhoto for iOS takes full advantage of the new iPad’s high resolution display, and the multi-touch capabilities of both the iPad and iPhone. Photographs can be enhanced by adding a range of special Apple created effects, and you have complete control over the contrast, colour and exposure of each image. You literally touch the parts that you want to change, or use Fingertip brushes for more precise adjustments.

When you’re happy with how your photos look, you can view them on the big screen via AirPlay and an Apple TV, or publish photo journals online to share with family and friends.

With the latest version iMovie for iOS, you are able to transform high-definition videos on your iPhone or iPad into Hollywood-style trailers – even while recording. A new Theater view allows you to preview your content with nine different templates, including: Fairy Tale, Superhero and Romance.

Updates to GarageBand include a new Jam Session feature which allows you to wirelessly connect with three other people and play together as a group. The update also sees the introduction of Smart Strings – a Touch Instrument that allows you to play a complete string orchestra with a single finger!

iPhoto for iOS is priced at £2.99 ($4.99) and requires either an iPad 2 or later, or an iPhone 4 or later.
