MacBook Air refresh coming soon?

If you’re thinking about getting a MacBook Air you might just want to delay your purchase for a few more weeks. Earlier this week Digitimes reported that Apple could unveil new updated models as early as next month.

According to Digitimes:

“The Taiwan-based supply chain for Apple products will begin shipments of new 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch MacBook Air models featuring Sandy Bridge platform and Thunderbolt interface in late May for launch in June or July”

Besides the upgrade to Sandy Bridge processors and the addition of a Thunderbolt port, the only other change could come in the form of a slightly faster graphics chipset. Some people are speculating that Apple might add a backlit keyboard (the original Air had one), but that seems more like wishful thinking.

The current generation MacBook Airs were unveiled back in October 2010, and have gone on to be one of Apple’s best sellers. An update in the next few weeks would be perfect timing for anyone looking to buy a new Mac for college.

Will you be buying one?
