Here in the UK, we’ve been able to purchase unlocked versions of the iPhone 5 since its launch on the 21st of September, but now our friends across the pond can finally do the same. Following the launch of iTunes 11 yesterday, Apple started selling unlocked GSM models of the iPhone 5 on its US online store.

As you can probably imagine, the unlocked versions, which will only work on AT&T and T-Mobile, are significantly more expensive than those subsidised by carriers.

The entry level 16GB iPhone 5 is priced at $649, the 32GB model is $749, and the top of the range 64GB version is $849. Estimated shipping times are one week.

Will you be buying an unlocked iPhone 5 from Apple?
