The United Kingdom’s 36th Apple Store opened its doors within the Trinity shopping center in Leeds today. Staff greeted the first 1,000 customers with free Apple t-shirts, a tradition that is carried out with the launch of every new Apple Store.

Apple usually opens its new retail stores on a Saturday, but it opened the Leeds location several days early to coincide with the grand opening of the new £350 million Trinity shopping center. Like most Apple Stores, this one boasts a Genius Bar, training workshops, One to One, and Apple’s Joint Venture service for businesses.

Hundreds of fans turned up to see the store’s opening at 10 a.m. This is the first Apple store in West Yorkshire, though there are a number of Authorized Apple Reseller, including a KRCS store just down the road.

Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced that the company would be working hard to increase the number of Apple Stores outside of the U.S., with 30 international locations planned for 2013 alone.
