Apple has released “Supplemental Update 2.0” for those running OS X Mountain Lion that addresses an issue with Keychain that can affect 2012 Macs. The update is recommended for all machines released this year, including both notebooks and desktops.

If you’ve had issues with Keychain on your Mac, then you should install this release sooner rather than later. The update weighs in at 26.65MB, and it’s available to download via the Mac App Store, or from Apple’s support site. After installation, a system restart is required.

Though it’s unclear exactly what Keychain issues this update fixes, AppleInsider speculates that it may address a problem that caused the password management system to become inaccessible for some users under OS X 10.8.1. That particular update was released back in October.

If you’ve had problems with Keychain on your Mac, does this update fix them?
