Apple’s next-generation of MacBook Pros are shaping up to be notebooks worth getting excited about. In addition to Intel’s latest Ivy Bridge processors, the new machines are also expected to get a new design that will make them thinner and lighter than ever before, much like the MacBook Air. And there may not be too long to wait for them, either.

Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, known for his reliable sources when it comes to Apple rumours, has revealed that the Cupertino company is “noodling with” a smaller, 7.85-inch version of its iPad, which is expected to compete with smaller tablets like the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0.

According to a report by entertainment news site Variety, Ashton Kutcher is set to play the part of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in an upcoming independent film named Jobs.

Apple’s iPhone has been sporting a 3.5-inch display since it was first launched way back in 2007. Although the company did introduce a high-resolution Retina display with the iPhone 4, doubling the linear resolution of previous displays, the screen’s size remained the same.

According to a New York Post report, Apple is looking to launch a streaming TV service which could involve channels being offered as apps for the Apple TV and other devices. Eddy Cue, the company’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services is said to be pitching the idea to various content providers, but negotiations aren’t progressing as quickly as hoped.

These latest photographs from Chinese tech blog M.I.C. Gadget feature comparisons between what is purported to be the rear enclosure from the soon-to-be-released iPad 3, and the iPad 2. Posted by the site in a rumour roundup, they appear to back up previous speculation that Apple’s next-generation tablet will sport a slightly thicker form factor.

Following months of speculation that Appleās next-generation iPad will have a retina display, MacRumors claim to have proof that this will indeed be the case. Apparently they managed to get hold of one of the leaked screens created for the forthcoming device, and having inspected it under a microscope found it to have a 2048 x 1536 resolution.
