UK communications regulator Ofcom has today given Everything Everywhere — the parent company of mobile network providers Orange and T-Mobile, the green light to roll-out the country’s first 4G network. And according to a report by Pocket-lint, Apple’s next iPhone could be one of the first devices to support the new service.

When Apple announces the new iPhone next month, it is expected to unveil a brand new mini dock connector alongside it. The company’s existing 30-pin setup has been around for years, but is set to lose its place to a new 9-pin connector. Of course, Apple is likely to release an adapter that will allow it to work with older accessories, and this mockup shows what that adapter might look like.

Following last month’s discovery of results for a purported Retina display 13-inch MacBook Pro in the Geekbench database, benchmarks for a second similar model have surfaced. Once again they refer to a “MacBookPro10,2” rather than a “MacBookPro9,2” – the model number of the current non-Retina 13-inch MacBook Pro.

A discovery made by 9to5Mac, in one of the applications included with Apple’s iOS development tools, suggests that the Cupertino company is at least testing an iPhone with a taller display. In addition, the upcoming iOS 6 can automatically scale to a 640 x 1136 resolution with five rows of icons displayed.

Japanese website iLab Factory has published a series of photos of what is alleged to be an assembled iPhone 5. While it’s impossible to judge the authenticity of the device pictured, the design is consistent with recent rumours that claim Apple’s next-generation iPhone will have a taller 4-inch display, and a smaller 19-pin connector.
