In a press release issued by the company, Apple has today announced that downloads from the App Store have now topped a staggering 40 million, and that 2012 accounted for just under half of those downloads alone.

With the big day fast approaching, Apple has posted a new Christmas-themed TV advert for the iPad mini on its YouTube channel. Launched in February 2011 at a special New York media event involving Apple executive Eddy Cue, The Daily was hailed as the world’s first iPad-only newspaper, unfortunately it failed to attract enough subscribers.
